In the aftermath of an industrial accident, Okuyama, estranged from family and friends, consents to his psychiatrist's radical experiment: a face transplant, created from the mould of a stranger. This alienation further leads Okuyama to succumb to darker temptations.
The film examines the limits and freedom of building a new persona and questions the concept of individuality with unforgettable imagery.
